1. A few years back, pre-covid, the National Archives and the Royal Aeronautical Society identified a shortfall in the documentation and conservation of British aviation history. A conference at Aerospace Bristol established a steering group and various initiatives were launched. The primary result is this excellent on-line resource, free to access, providing guidance to archivists and heritage organisations. Considerable effort and diligence has created a listing of nearly all UK aviation manufacturers and a further list of British airlines is growing.

  2. Members are encouraged to make use of this free resource but also to add to the knowledge bank if they feel able. AHUK is represented on the Steering Group of the Aviation and Aerospace Archives Initiative.
